EXPOSED

He Exposed, back view

He Exposed, back view

“He Exposed” feels the inner boy with the hope and dreams of youth. “Her Exposed” explores the true self: how she feels; how she looks as age takes its toll. Bold shapes of color and strong texture enhance the form, but more importantly expose the figure’s character. I use gesture, posturing, and disproportionate size to focus on inner emotions and outer truths with the goal of bringing both power and vulnerability to the work. Interested in the human condition, I try to invoke an intuitive response from the viewer; I hope the viewer brings their experiences and emotions to their reactions before turning to a refined, analytical assessment. Mixing 2D and 3D enhances my ability to explore the esthetic presentation as well as the nuances of working in different dimensions.

Having spent much of my career as Associate Vice-Chancellor of Governmental Relations for City College of San Francisco, I bring the political into the art world; the obligation of being human into the conversation.
